C. J. Ashford

Colin James Ashford was a British artist who was born in 1919. He was famous for his aircraft, steamship, train and car paintings. His artwork is meticulously researched and painted in watercolors or oils. He has produced covers for books and magazines, postcards, posters and illustrations for the First World War Aviation Historical Society's Cross and Cockade and books published for the RAF Benevolent Fund, including Wright to Fly. In 2010, he was elected Vice President of the Guild of Aviation Artists and was one of their founder members. His specialty was painting aircraft and he has paintings in the Royal Air Force Museum and Yorkshire Air museum.
