Charles J.A. Wilson

American

Wilson was born in Scotland and lived in Massachusetts. He was an artist, painter, etcher, and illustrator particularly renowned for his skill in creating ship portraits and marine art. At young age he worked for Bethlehem Shipbuilding Co. of East Boston etching ships from blueprints. During World War I he spent two years in France. After the war he was commissioned to paint and etch American ships and marine views. During World War II he was an official US Coast Guard artist. Wilson was a member of the Boston Society of Printmakers, and the International Printmakers and Society of American Etchers.
