Johann Friedrich Hesse

Berlin-based German painter and lithographer active in the 19th century. His father was a musician and he received his education at the Magdeburg Provincial Art School, and later at the Royal Academy of Dresden. After graduating he lived in Hamburg, and relocated to Berlin in 1883. There he established his lithography studio and printshop, to supplement his income as a painter.
