William Heysham Overend

William Heysham Overend was a British artist, renowned for his marine art, and book illustrations. Overend began his career as a painter and his first successful submission to the Royal Academy occurred in 1872. He moved into illustration sometimes later, and started to working for the London Illustrated News in 1875. Overend also worked as an engraver, developing a reputation as a one of the best naval illustrators of the era.
