Archibald Robertson

Scottish/American (Moneymusk, Scotland; New York, New York)

A successful painter and founder of Aberdeen’s drawing academy, in Aberdeen, Scotland, Robertson came to New York in 1791 to establish an art school. In 1792 he and his brother Alexander founded the Columbian Academy of Painting, one of the first art schools in the United States.
