George Barbier

George Barbier was a French illustrator and costume designer. Born in 1882 in Nantes, France, he was part of an influential group of early 20th-century artists that included Bernard Boutet de Monvel, Pierre Brissaud, Paul Iribe, Georges Lepape, and Charles Martin. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Barbier was known for his glamorous illustrations of fashion and theater costumes, which reflected the Art Deco style of the time.
