James F. Murray

James Francis Murray was an American artist who whose work consisted of illustration, design, and typography. In 1920 he took his first position, one of many in Boston's newspaper industry, with the old Lawrence "Telegram" to earn his tuition for the Massachusetts School of Art. Murray later joined the staff of the now defunct Boston Post newspaper in 1938 and remained in their employ until 1956. From there he then took on a position at the Record American newspaper where, for many years, his paintings of various New England scenes graced the front covers of the Pictorial Living Sunday magazine insert.
Murray was also very well known for his widely distributed litho-prints of New England especially of those depicting Boston and New England scenery.
