Karl Xaver Goetz

Medallist. Born in Augsburg, Germany. Studied there and also in Dresden, Leipzig, Berlin and Düsseldorf until 1897. After time in the Netherlands and Paris settled and worked in Munich from 1904. His first medals date from 1905. Goetz produced 633 medals on a variety of subjects of which 175 were of a satirical and propaganda nature during World War I and for the Lusitania medal of 1915.

He was a member of Munich's Artist Society and Numismatic Society. During World War II he produced further propaganda medals. He died in Munich in 1950.
